The reference pictures I used were dug up on the internet and I use them only as such. Unfortunately I have no idea where I found them anymore, but many are from German archives. These pictures have their origin still visible on them.

Guderian's Sd.Kfz.251/6 Ausf.A in 1/35

I started posting this on monday, April 10, 2006 on the missing-lynxforum
I had the idea for quit some time, but the information available to me at the time was limited.
There is this series of pictures showing Guderian in his command halftrack during the German invasion of France. I found 2 of those pictures back then and I used as those as reference and did the conversion based on those 2;
The text of the blog is the one Is actually used back then. Paste & copy is so easy... ;)

This was my first conversion ever.
I am using an old Tamiya 251/1 Ausf C to build Guderian's command halftrack during the Western campaign... If it turns out bad, no expensive kit has gone to waist...
Since I have no scaledrawings, I am building with what ever photo's I can find.. And because I really don't like PE, I am using as little as possible...
The rest of this vehicle is being put together with bits an pieces from the spares box, plastic card, copper wire and all kinds of stuff you can find around the house...
Building on a budget.

april 11 2006
I got on with it.
The nose is starting to look like something. I added more bits and pieces...

Since the interior of this oldy is horrible, I wanted to change it. For that I used another oldie as a basis. It is from the Tamiya 251 Ausf D...
I had to modify the front of the plate, because it did not fit. Also I had to cut of the right bench and shorten it.
The dark spot is the place where I filled the opening with pieces from the old Tamiyakit, in order to maintain the pattern on the floor.
Thankfully, most of this will be hidden by the radio assembly later on...

April 16, 2006
After spending the last few days working on the radiolayout and ending up throwing it away... I added the layout from Dragon's 251/6.. I wanted to keep that one complete, but since I started cannibalising it, I will be taking the frameantenna aswell..
I added the backrests for the crew and a little foldible tabel, which I think shows in the original pictures...
The crew are several Dragon items with Panzeruniforms, not Wehrmacht!
Guderian is a Legends & Lore figure..

april 18, 2006
Well, I started on the upper part of the 251. I added the frameantenna, which is not the correct one. But the one I built was horrible!!
Also I started adding a few bits and pieces all around the top.
It really starts to look like something now!!

The next few steps have been taken.... So far so good!!
I finally got the crew completed and I started to add personal stuff to the vehicle as well..
It's going to get crowdy in there, but that's the way I like it!!
It's realy too bad that some of the detail isn't showing, but the camera really isn't good enough to show these properly...

Just have a look and let your imagination do the rest!!

Another bit of work done....

I added the reardoors, which are the original ones from the kit. I thinned these done considerably. After that I added new hinges and the doorlocking mechanism...
Also I added some wiring to the radiosets, just to make them more lively...
After that I spraypainted it all in a light grey basecoat, which makes flaws more easily visible... and visible they became...

oh well.....

Next will be adding the towinghook and detailing that part + exchanging the wheels and tracks for better ones...

I know, I know.... the pics are horrible......

May 30, 2006
Time for an update. It's been a while.....
The vehicle is done now and so is the crew. All I need to do is to paint the damn thing

Which kind of makes me nervous, because I haven't used an airbrush in ages...
The final pieces I added were new wheels afrom another, less old, Tamita kit and I added metal tracks from Sovereign. Actually these are for a SdKfz 7, but work for the 251 too.
Also I added the last details too the rear, such as the towing hook, lights etc.

June 23, 2007
well..... it's been a year....
I some how lost my motivation to go on with this one.. I guess I've busy with it too much too fast..... SO it ended up "on the shelf" for all this time.
Recently however I stumbled across an item I've been looking for for all this time..... Yes, I finally found the Enigma-machine!!!It's from Plus Models and it triggered my enthusiasm for this project once more..
This is the set I used.... The quality of the castings is excellent!!!Plus Model set 249

So I thought I'd post a few updates again...the last picture before it ended up in the box again... That one was taken at a Twenotshow, where I had displayed it. Forgot who took the picture, but it was one of the fellowmembers.

The front interior done.... The driver comes from one of the recent Dragon boxes and looks like a midget when compared to other figures!! But it fitted.....more or less

Part of the exterior....
I redid practically all external fittings on the upper body; tools, visionblocks, tarpaulin (missing here).
The rest will follow shortly...

June 25, 2007
well, the interior has been finished so far....

I added the crew and some other bist & pieces...

and a close up of Mr. G. himself.....
August 12, 2007
well.... It's done!! Finally!!
Or is it??

The decals are part waterslide, part handpainted. Weathering was mostly done with pastels, both wet and dry. Here are the latest pics...

August 14, 2007
I added an underground to the model, which I kept very basic & simple. I added a telegraphpole, made from natural material, and completed it with isolators and brasswire.
I also added an officer and a PK-soldier to make the scene look more complete. Someone had to take the pictures in the first place. I figured this angle would be just right. The large open space behind the vehicle will be filled with a motorcycle orderly, when I find one...

June 2, 2008
I finished one of the ancient Tamiya BMW's and added that one to the diorama.
